Dr. John Paul Marriott joins Stowe Natural Family Wellness with a unique approach to client
care. He is a licensed naturopathic physician specializing in naturopathic physical medicine in which he utilizes various treatment modalities learned throughout his naturopathic medical education as well as through extracurricular courses. Listed below are of the many possible ways he may integrate these modalities into your treatment plan based on best medical practices and the intuitive needs of the patient. He has a special interest in orthopedics, nutrition and exercise, and understands the impact our physical health has on our emotional, mental and spiritual well being. Community Born and raised as one of five children in the small town of Fairfax, Dr. John has always had a love and connection with nature. He enjoys spending time outdoors in any way possible whether it is skiing, hiking, playing basketball or making maple syrup with his family. Dr. John is excited to return to the state he grew up in and to give back to the surrounding communities that he loves so much. Philosophy Dr. John’s philosophy of health is a broad one, not bound by any set belief. But there is one common thread that always stands true, which involves cultivating love. There are many tools for healing, and many layers of ourselves to heal, but it is in our own purposeful love of self and of life that carries you through the process, and he will be with you along the way. Dr. John’s Own Healing Journey Dr. John’s healing journey began long ago at the age of 12 when he discovered the power of food and its affect on health. After suffering from excruciating migraines that put him out of school for about thirty days in the sixth grade, his sister recommended the simple suggestion of changing up certain foods that he was putting into his body. It wasn’t that soon after he began to see the connection food had on his body, and has essentially been migraine free since. His healing journey continued and evolved throughout the years as other physical complaints appeared. In high school he discovered the power of safe exercising when he injured his lower back training for sports. The only advice given back then was to rest and avoid strenuous work out activities. This created an interest in understanding the importance of safe exercise training which eventually lead him to pursue the Medical and Sports Sciences program during the last two years of high school to begin learning about the human body in its physical form. This set him on a path to pursue exercise science at the University of New England with the goal of eventually becoming a physical therapist. After college, Dr. John experienced a severe neck injury and turned to chiropractic. Skeptical initially, he soon realized how powerful healing with the hands really is. Intrigued, he began opening to this side of health and healing with his already in depth exercise science background. Soon after he found himself working along side a wonderful husband and wife chiropractor and this is when his life truly began to evolve. After a couple of years working as a chiropractic assistant, Dr. John applied and was accepted to chiropractic school only to find out about naturopathic medicine in their history class. A year and a half later he decided to move across the country to Seattle, Washington to attend Bastyr University, the nations premier school for accredited naturopathic medical education. Dr. John completed three years of school and decided to take a leave of absence, contemplating his own larger purpose in life. This lead him down a path of healing that affected him physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. He moved and transferred to different schools across the country, only to find himself back to where he started. He graduated with a naturopathic medical degree from Bastyr University in June of 2018, but the journey he experienced was life changing. This story not only tells you a little bit about himself, but it is also to allow you to understand that he too is experiencing his own healing journey as you are as well. Embodying this knowing, compassion and a loving presence is what he intends to bring with every encounter. Dr. Marriott is accepting new patients! Please call (802) 253-2340. |
